Alfons Dintner was born in 1963, in Hepberg (Bavaria).
Following vocational training as a fitter and graduating from the Munich University of Applied Sciences with a degree in precision engineering, Dintner began his professional career with AUDI AG in Ingolstadt in 1987. He was put in charge of the Audi TT paint shop and custom painting in 1998. In 2001, Dintner was given overall responsibility for the paint shop at the Ingolstadt plant. In addition to his work for AUDI AG, he also assumed a variety of planning and consulting duties during this period with numerous Volkswagen Group companies, including SEAT, Volkswagen South Africa, Bentley, Lamborghini and FAW-Volkswagen. At Volkswagen Saxony, Dintner oversaw construction of the paint shop and was responsible for its operation for three years while at the same time managing additional paint shop start-ups within the Group.
After leading the VW Group’s “Surface” working group (2005), Dintner transferred to Brussels in 2007. He served simultaneously as Plant Manager and Management Spokesperson of Audi Brussels, where Dintner and his management team were responsible for the launch of the Audi A1.
As the Board of Management Member responsible for Production and Logistics he joined Volkswagen de México in 2011. He and his team launched a variety of models. Furthermore, a second production site – the engine plant in Silao – was successfully opened under his leadership. In 2014, he was made CEO of AUDI MÉXICO S.A. de C.V. In this position he was responsible for the construction of the new Audi plant and the launch of the Audi Q5 successor.
Since May 2019, Alfons Dintner has been Head of the Pre-Series Center at AUDI AG.
